RUSSIAN, EAST EUROPEAN AND EURASIAN STUDIES - As Russia continues to wage war on Ukraine, UO faculty are joining a global effort to decolonize Russian and Slavic studies.

GERMAN & SCANDINAVIAN STUDIES, GLOBAL STUDIES, ITALIAN - What happens outside of the classroom can be just as important as what happens inside. Audrey Bruce and Tobias Lehmann (not pictured) are two out of the three CAS students featured in the CAS Connection Student Spotlight.

GEOGRAPHY, GLOBAL STUDIES - The UO is one of the top 25 higher ed institutions in the US for producing Peace Corps volunteers. For these two CAS students, the Peace Corps is about joining a global community and using their liberal arts degree in a meaningful, life-changing way.

ENGLISH, SOCIOLOGY, SPANISH, THEATRE ARTS - The Distinguished Teaching Awards recognize exceptional teaching that is inclusive, engaged and research-informed. This year’s winners are Jocelyn Hollander, Faith Barter, Alex Zunterstein, Kirby Brown, Robin Hopkins, Tannaz Farsi, Patricia Rodley and Michael Moffitt.

FRENCH, GLOBAL STUDIES - Read the stories of six alumni whose work in international affairs is making a global impact.

GLOBAL STUDIES - The Incubating Interdisciplinary Initiatives (I3) awards provide up to $50,000 to seed new interdisciplinary research. This year, three awards are funded by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation.

Among the top items on the day’s docket for the new University of Oregon President Karl Scholz was sending a message to the university community, which included an invitation to a meet-and-greet social July 12 on the EMU Green from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

On June 20, College of Arts and Sciences students wrapped up the final day of spring — and years of college work — with commencement ceremonies. Starting in the morning and running until early evening, CAS graduates celebrated their achievements around campus, from Autzen Stadium to the grassy lawns of Global Scholars Hall.

For the winter term, 4,556 University of Oregon students made the Dean' List. To qualify, a student must be an admitted undergraduate and complete at least 12 credits with a letter grade and with a grade-point average of at least 3.75.

GLOBAL HEALTH - Third-year Clark Honors College undergraduate student Nayantara Arora was recently awarded a $5,000 Public Service Scholarship from Phi Beta Kappa Key.
