Increase Your Opportunities

The University of Oregon has a long tradition of investing in and supporting international education and research. The School of Global Studies and Languages is a fresh and modern approach to keeping with this tradition. Students learn in the classroom and in the field with 100% of students taking part in experiential learning programs. Undergraduate and graduate programs include new ways to study and apply languages, and incorporate social science education, cultural competency and professional training to create a hub for global careers and language learning at the UO.

Majors in a Language

Proficiency in a second language and knowledge of other cultures enhances study and career opportunities. Study abroad to immerse yourself in the culture of your chosen language. Upon graduation, students can explore a range of jobs in many different sectors, including business, education, and journalism as well as government agencies and nonprofit organizations. Or continue your language studies at the graduate level.

He looks for every opportunity to speak it, including chatting with a friend online. He even practiced Mandarin with a customer at his workplace who would come in and chat with him regularly.
