Contact the Schnitzer School of Global Studies and Languages

The Schnitzer School of Global Studies and Languages prepares students to excel after college with an education based on three pillars: academic foundations, language learning, and a geographic region focus. In 2025, UO alumnus Jordan Schnitzer and the Harold & Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation made a $25 million commitment to the College of Arts and Sciences’ School of Global Studies and Languages to raise its profile and position it among the top schools in international studies. Students in the Schnitzer School will be prepared for an ever-globalizing world.

How to Find Us

Thanks to generous support from the Oregon Legislature, Friendly Hall is being transformed into an intellectual hub for students, faculty and staff as they work to make the world a better place. The building will reopen in January 2028. Until then faculty and staff will be housed throughout campus, primarily in Agate Hall and Mac Court.

Center for Global Futures

As part of the generous gift from the Schnitzer family, the Schnitzer School of Global Studies and Languages is launching the Center for Global Futures, an interdisciplinary hub of scholars and practitioners dedicated to understanding, educating about, and preparing for future trends and challenges across our world.

The goal of this center is to not only raise the Schnitzer School’s national and global profile but also foster intellectual conversations on some of the future issues that the world face.
